Around 50-60% of human body (adult) comprises of water, so it is necessary for every human being to drink adequate amount of water every day. We drink lots of water in summers, but it decreases as the weather changes from rainy to autumn and then to winters. Should we drink more water in winters? Should we stay hydrated in winters? The answer to these questions is A BIG YES. Want to know why? Then read further to know about 4 Reasons - Why You Should Drink Water in Winters?
Many people think that body needs hydration in summers or humid weather, but the truth is Our Body Needs Hydration in Every Weather. In winters, you layer body with multiple clothes or use heaters to keep yourself warm. This creates an artificial heating environment that takes away moisture from your body, making it dehydrated. Dehydration is common in winters, so drink 8-10 glasses of water every day to stay hydrated.
Tip : In winters, drink 2-3 sips of water (normal or lukewarm) after every 1 hour. You would feel it like a task in the starting but after a week it would be a regular habit.
Reason 2 - Water Helps in Weight Loss
Many people miss out fitness routine during cold winter days. Hence, they gain weight due to lack of physical activity. Water helps you to maintain weight to some extent, without working out for long hours. Make a habit of drinking one full glass of warm water half an hour before meals. This prepares our body for better digestion and keeps your hunger in control (saves you from overeating). Staying hydrated also helps in better functioning of body processes.
Tip : Avoid drinking water in between and after having meals. In case, you feel the need to have water then drink half glass of lukewarm water.
Reason 3 - Water Keeps Your Skin Radiant
Your skin would feel dry in winters, this happens because you reduce your water intake. Dehydration makes your skin look tired and dull. In few cases, skin might start peeling due to dryness. It is necessary to keep skin moisturised from Inside as well as Outside. So, drink sufficient amount of water and apply moisturising cream every day.
Tip : Apply two layers of hydrating moisturising before sleep so that your skin repairs overnight. You will wake up with soft, radiant and fresh skin every winter morning.

It also helps in smoother processing of your body functions. If you drink sufficient amount of water then you urinate at different intervals and flush out toxins from the body.
Tip : You can also include warm soups and fruits enriched with water or Vitamin C to keep your body hydrated and flush out the toxins.
